Anglo-Zulu Battlefield

Leaving Durban we travel to the heart of Zululand to visit the Battlefields of Isandlwana & Rorkes Drift, possibly Kwa-Zulu Natal’s most famous battle sites, where thousands of British & Zulu soldiers were killed in 1879 & 11 Victoria Crosses were awarded for bravery & valour.

Shakaland

Leaving Durban we travel north to visit Shakaland – experience an authentic introduction to Zulu Culture including details about some of the customs, beliefs & traditions of the Zulu people. See beadwork & wood carving demonstrations, watch Zulu maidens & warriors dancing & taste Zulu Beer, before enjoying a buffet lunch including some traditional foods before returning to Durban.

Giants Castle / San Rock Art

From Durban we travel through the scenic Natal Midlands to visit Giants Castle, part of the Ukhahlamba-Natal Drakensberg World Heritage Park. Spend time walking in the mountains, absorbing the spectacular scenery & fresh air & learning about San (Bushmen) Rock Art at Main Caves.

Sani Pass & Lesotho

Travel through the scenic Natal Midlands to Underberg, where we transfer into 4×4 vehicles for the ascent up the famous Sani Pass into the mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. Visit a Basotho village to see how these hardy mountain people live & enjoy lunch at the “Highest Pub in Africa” (2874m above sea level) before descending the pass for the return trip to Durban. Hluhluwe / Umfolozi Game Reserve

Visit one of the oldest game reserves in Africa (est 1895) & enjoy a full days game viewing with the possibility of sighting not only the BIG 5 (Lion, Buffalo, Elephant, Rhino & Leopard) but also, amongst others: giraffe, zebra, warthog, impala, kudu, baboon & wild dog. The park is world renowned for its efforts in White Rhino conservation and it’s beautiful, unspoilt wilderness.

Midlands Meander

Travel inland through the scenic valley of 1000 Hills to the Midlands region. View the beautiful Howick falls, stop at the Nelson Mandela capture site & follow some of the winding arts & crafts trail. There is a wide variety of interesting stops depending on group interest & including craft workshops, cheese makers, cobblers, weavers, artists, a local brewery or wine estate. The area is renowned for its scenic beauty.
